Short field note from a guy who's used a few EC250DLs. Fuel economy is a mixed bag - compared to older machines you'll save some, maybe ten to fifteen percent, but when you work it hard the consumption goes up. I've seen starting troubles tied to weak batteries and a couple of units threw sensor faults that needed diagnostics. Wiring corrosion shows up on older machines too. Undercarriage eats tracks on rough ground if you don't inspect rollers and idlers regularly. Controls are mostly responsive but when the hydraulic fluid runs hot you can feel a slight lag. The frame and build feel solid; with good care these will hit the reported large hour counts. My advice: keep a spare battery, budget for parts, and don't ignore warning lights.

Used the EC250E for everything from trenching to loading out. Performance is good, no real complaints about how it works when it's up. Starts can be a pain in the cold, though, had to mess with the battery once. Undercarriage holds up fine but does need checking if you're on rocky stuff. The cab's actually quiet and you can sit there all day and not feel trashed at the end, which matters on long shifts. Haven't had major breakdowns except a weird electrical issue, probably just a bum wire, but it cost a bit of downtime. Service intervals are okay, just gotta keep on top of it. Been running an EC250DL on and off for years on mixed jobs. Hydraulics are sharp, you can really modulate the stick in tight spots and the machine holds steady when you need precision. Visibility from the cab is strong - I don't have to lean forward to see the trench edge. Cab is roomy and climate control actually works, which matters on long shifts. Seat adjustments are a bit limited though; after a long day my lower back complains. Maintenance is simple enough: access points make routine checks quick, you don't need to pull half the machine apart. That said parts can get pricey and I've seen hydraulic hoses start to leak if you run it hard without checks. Fuel use climbs when you push full power, so factor that into job costs. Overall I like the control and comfort, but watch the fuel bill and keep on top of hose seals and undercarriage wear.
